Requesting Accommodations 

Students work with the school’s SSD coordinator to apply for accommodations before the AP Exam administration. The SSD coordinator requests and manages the accommodations through SSD Online.

All requests for accommodations for this year’s AP Exams and, when required, complete documentation must be submitted by the SSD coordinator through SSD Online by January 22, 2027.

The 2027 AP Exams will be administered in schools over two weeks in May: May 3–7 and May 10–14.

In addition to the exam schedule, important information about start time changes for some locations, AP Digital Portfolio deadlines, and late testing is available below.

New: 2027 AP Exam Start Time Changes

Beginning with the 2027 AP Exam administration, start times for AP Exams administered in some locations have changed to prevent the disclosure of secure exam content across time zones. For most schools, including all schools in the lower 48 United States, Hawaii, and Washington, D.C., exams still begin at 8 a.m. local time and 12 p.m. local time.

Purpose of Advanced Placement (College Board)

The College Board states that the purpose of Advanced Placement (AP) classes is to enable willing and academically prepared students to pursue rigorous, college-level studies while still in high school.

The College Board also considers Advanced Placement (AP) courses to be the gold standard for academic rigor in U.S. high schools, equating them directly to introductory-level college courses.

The program is built around three core goals:

• College Credit and Placement:
  To give students the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both, which can save time and money in higher education.
• Academic Preparation:
  To help students develop critical skills—such as time management, scholarly writing, and independent thinking—that are necessary to succeed in college and future careers.
• Differentiating Admissions:
  To allow students to stand out to college admissions officers by demonstrating that they are willing to challenge themselves with rigorous coursework.

AP Qualification Guidelines

• Students who enroll in an AP course are committing to complete the course.
• Students have until September 2 to request a schedule change out of AP. After this date, students may not drop until the end of the semester.
• Students are required to take the AP Exam. If the exam is not attempted, the student’s GPA will be calculated using the regular scale.
• All students are expected to complete their own work. Academic dishonesty may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the AP course.
• Students participating in extracurricular or UIL activities must maintain a grade above 60%. A semester grade below 70% will result in no course credit.
• If a student earns below 80% in any grading period, a parent-teacher-student conference will be required. A growth plan may be developed if the student remains in AP.
• If a student fails an AP course for the year, they will not be eligible to take an AP course in that subject the following year.

The SAT is a college entrance exam used by many colleges and universities as part of the admissions process. The assessment measures skills in Reading and Writing and Math.

Students may take the SAT to demonstrate college readiness and strengthen their college applications. Princeton ISD also offers opportunities for students to take the SAT during the school day. 

The PSAT is designed to help students become familiar with the SAT and assess their progress toward college readiness. It also provides opportunities for students to identify areas where they can strengthen their academic skills.

The PSAT is offered in several versions, including the PSAT 8/9, PSAT 10, and PSAT/NMSQT. The PSAT/NMSQT may also provide students with opportunities for recognition and scholarship consideration. Princeton ISD offers the PSAT/NMSQT for students during the fall of their JUNIOR Year.

The ACT is a college entrance exam that measures skills in English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. Students may use ACT scores as part of the college admissions process.

Princeton ISD offers opportunities for students to take the ACT during the school day.

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is an assessment that can help students explore their career interests, strengths, and potential career areas.

Princeton ISD offers the ASVAB Career Exploration Program to students in grades 10–12. Participation is voluntary, and the assessment can be a helpful tool for students who are exploring career options — whether or not they are considering military service. More ASVAB information can also be found under the Military Readiness section of the Counseling Corner.

The Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) is a college-readiness assessment used by Texas colleges and universities to determine whether a student is ready for college-level coursework in English Language Arts and Mathematics.

TSIA2 results can help identify a student's academic strengths and areas where additional support may be needed. Students planning to take Dual Credit courses also need to meet college-readiness requirements through the TSIA2 or another approved assessment. Princeton ISD students take the TSIA2 as part of their college-readiness planning during their Junior year. Students wanting to take Dual Credit or be part of the Collegiate Academy will take the TSIA2 during their Freshman year.

Princeton ISD TSI Information:
Senior students who will like Admin Release (early/late arrival) will need to pass both sections of the TSI to qualify. 
Students all take the TSI during their Junior year through PSHS for free. If a student is wanting to retake the TSI for Admin Release qualifications then they will need to follow the Collin College Dual Credit application directions so they can sign up to take the test on their own time through Collin College.
